KL Rahul Dropped From Favorites For Test Captaincy

It was all expected that KL Rahul is going to be the captain for both T20 and One Day Internationals going forward although there is Rohit Sharma considering his age, Rahul has been on the hot list even for Test captaincy. 

KL Rahul is a proven batsman and he has certain records and brilliant averages in all of the formats of the game. Also, he happens to be from the same state as the current Indian coach for all formats Rahul Dravid. Yes, both of the Rahuls are from Karnataka and the last player from Karnataka that captained Indian test cricket was Anil Kumble until his retirement.

However, after seeing KL Rahul’s captaincy in both IPL and international games, especially after today’s defeat it clearly looks like KL Rahul may not be part of the list of probables for Test captaincy. 

India today lost to South Africa by 31 runs in the first ODI (One Day International) against them. Shikhar Dhawan made a terrific comeback into the team with an unbeatable knock of 79 runs while the other opener and captain have contributed to the team with 17 runs in chasing 296 runs in 50 overs. 

At the end, India was short of 31 runs to chase the target. The next ODI is on 01/21/2022.
